These Terms of Use explain what you’re agreeing to when you use skopiem.org. By using our website, you agree to these terms.
This document works alongside our other policies: our Privacy Policy, Contributor Agreement and Safeguarding policy.

Who this applies to
These terms apply to anyone using skopiem.org. This includes and is not limited to readers, contributors, team applicants and any parents or teachers supporting a young person’s involvement. Skopiem is aimed primarily at students aged 11-18, so we’ve tried to keep this document as straightforward as possible.
Using the site
We want Skopiem to be a welcoming, safe space for curious young people to explore science. When using our site, please don’t:
Try to disrupt, hack, or interfere with how the site works
Impersonate someone else, or misrepresent who you are
Use our contact or submission forms to send spam or irrelevant content
Harass, threaten, or behave abusively toward other users or the Skopiem team
If someone breaks these rules, we may restrict or remove their access to the site. For contributors specifically, serious issues are handled through our Safeguarding Policy’s escalation process rather than duplicated here.
Our content and branding
Skopiem’s name, logo, and website design are owned by Emily Dann, Skopiem’s founder, and shouldn’t be copied or reused without permission.
Articles submitted by contributors are covered separately by our Contributor Agreement, which explains how ownership and publishing rights work, this document doesn’t repeat that here.
Accuracy of content
We take scientific accuracy seriously, and every article goes through an editorial review process before publication. However, content on Skopiem is provided for education and informational purposes, written by student contributors and reviewed by student editors. Therefore, it shouldn’t be treated as professional or expert advice on any topic.
Links to other websites
Our site may link to other websites (for example, our social media pages or partner school and organisations). We aren’t responsible for the content or privacy practices or websites we don’t operate ourselves. If you follow a link away from skopiem.org, that site’s own terms and policies apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Skopiem develops. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updates date, and significant changes will be flagged clearly.
Restricting access
We may restrict or remove someone’s access to Skopiem if these terms, or our Safeguarding Policy, aren’t followed. We’ll always try to handle this fairly and proportionately, in line with the approach set out in our Safeguarding Policy.
